Clouds Make Me Happy

The color of these flowers stopped me in my tracks as I was walking back to my car. The weather was cloudy and gray that morning, which you might think would work against a photographer. The opposite is true, however. Direct sunlight on a subject often washes out the color or details in the image and the photo isn’t as impressive as it could be otherwise. Softer light on subjects usually turns out better. And, clouds are like having a natural diffuser over the subject that creates a softer light for you. There is no need to carry extra equipment on a cloudy day.
